Maternal mortality is a public health crisis in the United States. From 1999 and 2019, US maternal mortality more than doubled, according to a new study published by IHME and Mass General Brigham. A new study shows that antimicrobial resistance (AMR)is a significant threat in all 35 countries in the Americas causing 2 distinct problems: a high burden of infectious diseases & countries where a concerning proportion of infections involve AMR. We discuss the research with co-authors Lucien Swetschinski and Daniel Araki, as well as Dr. Gisela Robles Aguilar of Oxford University.
